Communication in Serious Illness
Target audience: healthcare teams such as physicians, nurses, social workers and other healthcare providers.
This 2.5 hour didactic session objective is to review the need for a systematic approach to having more, better and earlier conversations about patient values and priorities in serious illness; define a population with serious illness who may benefit from the serious illness conversation, and learn how to improve communication with patients who have a serious illness with a structured communication tool. During this highly interactive workshop participants will have the opportunity to practice case study conversations
